Montreal Manufacturing Technology Show Offers Special
Evening for Industry’s Job Shops Across the Province
Evening highlights include viewing of latest industry technologies, meet-and-greet
with former NHL hockey player Gilbert Delorme and complimentary dinnerMontreal, Quebec – April 17, 2012
– If you’re one of the thousands of small-to-mid-size (SMB) Quebec
businesses servicing the manufacturing industry, the province’s largest
manufacturing event has an offer you may find hard to refuse.
Organizers
of the newly-expanded Montreal Manufacturing Technology Show (MMTS) –
to be held May 14-16 at Montreal’s Place Bonaventure – have announced a
first-of-its-kind evening offered exclusively for independent job shops
across the province that supply parts and equipment to the manufacturing
industry, from metalworking and tooling to automation.
On
Tuesday, May 15 from 4:00-8:00 p.m., job shop owners, staff and their
adult family members will have no-charge access to an expansive
exhibition of the latest manufacturing technologies on today’s market,
and an opportunity to mingle with former Montreal Canadiens and Quebec
Nordiques hockey player Gilbert Delorme. Evening participants will also
be one of the first to enjoy a complimentary smoked meat dinner from
Schwartz’s Deli under the new ownership of Celine Dion and her husband,
Rene Angelil. What’s more, discounted hotel deals are being offered to
those looking to stay in Montreal overnight.
“Independent job
shops are the backbone of Quebec’s manufacturing industry, which is key
to the province’s economic health, and we understand how important it is
for smaller suppliers to stay current and informed of new industry
developments,” said Nick Samain, Group Show Manager with the Society of
Manufacturing Engineers (SME), organizer of MMTS. “Our goal is to make
it easier for Quebec businesses to find solutions, and network with
colleagues and potential customers under one roof in an easy-going,
enjoyable atmosphere.”
MMTS is the premier manufacturing
technology event in Quebec, featuring a leading trade show and
conference representing a cross-section of more than 20 manufacturing
industries. With an opening keynote address by Canadian senator and
former CFLer Larry Smith, the event will highlight key advances in such
areas as high-speed machining, aerospace, transportation, energy,
efficiency, lean manufacturing and more. Among the key exhibitors are
Sandvik, Elliott Matsuura, Machineries BV, Huron Canada, Megatel,
Ellison/Mori Seiki, Mazak, Okuma, Prima Finn Power and many more.
This
year’s event is bigger than ever, featuring a 15 per cent increase in
show floor space, a re-vitalized educational component and more
opportunities for networking through on-site interactive sessions and
social media. It is produced in partnership with the Canadian Machine
Tool Distributors’ Association (CMTDA), Canadian Manufacturers and
Exporters (CME), Canadian Tooling and Machining Association (CTMA),
Canadian Wind Energy Association (CANWEA), Quebec Aerospace Association
(AQA) and Les Affaires.

Montreal Manufacturing Technology Show:
Featuring a Bigger, Better and Refreshed Show Experience
Highly anticipated manufacturing event aims to break traditional trade show mold
Montreal, Quebec – January 31, 2012 – Despite recent headlines suggesting a challenging economy ahead, the manufacturing sector is off to a good start in 2012, with Statistics Canada reporting that sales are up among 80 percent of Canadian manufacturers, particularly in the machining and automotive industries. Nowhere is this momentum more evident than in the excitement that is building for the upcoming Montreal Manufacturing Technology Show. The show is back, bigger than ever, featuring a 15 per cent increase in show floor space, a re-vitalized educational component and more opportunities for networking through on-site interactive sessions and social media. Former CFLer, Canadian Senator to Inspire Quebec Manufacturers as Industry Looks to Improve Productivity, Lower Costs
Montreal, Quebec – March 26, 2012 – The most pressing challenge facing Quebec manufacturers in 2012 is the need to do more with less, reports a recent survey conducted by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). The survey is being released just weeks before the launch of a newly-expanded Montreal Manufacturing Technology Show (MMTS), which features an inspirational keynote address by Canadian senator and former CFLer Larry Smith.More than one-half of manufacturers surveyed by SME cited improving workforce productivity as a primary concern, followed closely by the need to update equipment and processes, and to lower overall production costs.
“These findings demonstrate the important role that technology plays in the Quebec manufacturing sector,” said Nick Samain, Group Show Manager with the SME, organizer of MMTS, to be held May 14-16 at Montreal’s Place Bonaventure. “Manufacturers need up-to-date technology, equipment and services to remain competitive and it’s our job to present those solutions in a format that makes it easy for them to find the answers they need,” he said, noting that the bi-annual event is as much about education and networking as it is about purchasing new products.
